8th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People told us they were made welcome, generally seen on time and always treated with respect. They felt they were listened to and made to feel at ease. People said they were happy with the quality of care and dental treatment offered by the dental practice. They said their treatment options were fully explained to them including the cost for their treatment. People said they were involved in decisions about their treatments. Comments included, “He’s a top class dentist” and “I’m treated well”.

We found the practice had systems in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies and staff demonstrated a clear understanding of safeguarding people’s health and welfare.

People expressed no concerns in relation to the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the practice. They confirmed staff wore protective clothing when treating them. There were effective systems in place to make sure equipment was safe; properly maintained, suitable for its purpose and used correctly.

People considered staff were competent in their work. Staff received appropriate professional development. Staff confirmed they undertook ongoing training to ensure their continuing professional development and maintenance of their skills.

People had access to a complaints procedure. The people we spoke with said they had never had cause to complain. They told us they would feel confident in raising concerns and complaints directly with the practice staff.
