23rd July 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We visited this dental practice on 24 July 2012 where we spoke with one dentist at the practice, two dental nurses and the administrator.

We also spoke with six people who used the dental practice and one relative to gain their experiences of the service they received.

People we spoke with said they were happy with the service they received and said they had recommended the practice to their family and friends. People said the staff were very friendly and helpful and considered their anxieties and how to reduce any stress. They said they felt involved in making decisions about the dental care they received and were given the information they needed about this and the costs involved.

People we spoke with knew how to complain but had never had cause to do so. They told us they would speak to the dentist if they were unhappy with anything. We saw there were leaflets available on request which gave people information on how to make a comment or complaint. One person commented, “If I need to, I know they will address anything.”

There was a range of information available to people attending the practice about the services provided and the costs. Useful information on maintaining good dental health and general wellbeing was available on request from the reception staff or dentist.

People we spoke with said everything always looked clean and they were satisfied with the standards of cleanliness.

All the staff we met were professional in their manner and enthusiastic about their work.

We saw there were suitable arrangements for control of infection and the decontamination of instruments were in place. Staff were able to show us the decontamination process and describe how the equipment was monitored to ensure it was working efficiently.
