7th May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

This was the practice's first inspection since dental services were required to register with the Care Quality Commission. We visited the practice on one day, during the practice's normal opening hours. The provider practices as a dentist along with five other dentists. There was a hygienist employed by the practice, nine dental nurses and three receptionists.

We checked and were assured that people using the dental practice had access to examinations in private. We met and spoke with the provider, practice manager and a dental nurse and checked records. We inspected the premises and were satisfied that people received treatment in a clean environment. People were consulted about treatments and ongoing dental care was monitored via discussion between the person and their dentist. People were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment and records were stored securely, reviewed and kept up to date.

Following our inspection we contacted, with their permission, people who had recently attended the practice. We asked people about their experiences including the approachability of staff, information given to them about their treatment and the cleanliness of the building. We received four responses to questionnaires we sent to ten people via email. Overall, people were satisfied with the treatment they had received. Comments included “staff are always helpful and polite” and “everything's spotlessly clean and handled expertly”.
