19th November 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We were unable to speak with people using the service as none were booked to attend at the time of the inspection. We have therefore used people's written testimonials to the provider to assist us in making our judgements. People's comments showed they rated the service highly and were satisfied with the care and treatment provided. Comments such as “I am most grateful to you for your kindness, and efficient and knowledgeable treatment, and for your comforting follow-up calls” and “thank you for your expert advice and treatment” formed part of their feedback.

People were provided with sufficient information to make an informed decision about their treatment. They were given an explanation of the treatment options available to them during their consultation, and this was followed-up with a detailed written treatment plan.

People received care and treatment that ensured their safety and welfare from staff who received appropriate professional development. A detailed medical and dental history was taken for each person and any allergies or medical conditions were recorded on the person's dental record. There was emergency equipment available and staff had attended training annually. There were systems in place to reduce the spread of infection and we saw reusable instruments were sterilized in accordance with recommended guidelines.
