30th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with seven people who received treatment on the day of our visit. Each person expressed positive comments about the care and treatment they received. All were very satisfied with the care they were given. People told us costs and treatment options were explained to them. One person said of the dentist ''They were very gentle.'' Another had seen the dentist for the first time and said their toothache had now gone. Another person commented that the dentist was ''Very patient focused.'' One person told us ''I felt lucky to get in here'' and ''I've got no concerns.''

We found people's privacy and dignity were respected at the practice. Staff were courteous, friendly and polite to patients. We saw appropriate records were being kept of people's treatment. Patients had signed to consent to their treatment. We found the practice was equipped to deal with emergencies such as cardiac arrest.

The premises were clean and appropriately maintained. There was level access from the pavement and a designated parking bay for people with disabilities. There was adequate heating, lighting and seating for people's comfort.

There had not been any recent recruitment. We found Criminal Records Bureau checks had been carried out and checks of professional registration had been undertaken for existing staff.

Records were accurate and kept up to date. We found confidential records were kept secure to prevent unauthorised access to sensitive information.
