17th October 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

When we visited the provider we found that people using the service were provided with good information about the care and treatment available at the practice. Information was available from leaflets and posters that outlined the services they offered. People were involved in their care and treatment and treated with dignity and respect.

We found that people were cared for safely and in a clean and hygienic environment. Patient records contained details about a person's medical history including whether they had any allergies and the type of medication they were currently taking. Clear explanations were provided to people to enable them to make decisions about their treatment. The practice complied with relevant guidance in relation to the cleaning of dental instruments and infection control guidelines.

One person we spoke with said, "They are very good here. I have recommended them to my family and friends. They are very caring and well trained."

Staff were regularly supported with their training and development. Records held reflected that staff were supervised regularly to ensure that they were competent to undertake their role.

The practice assessed and monitored the quality of the services they provided. They sought feedback from people using the service through the use of patient surveys, analysis of complaints and learning from adverse incidents. Staff were also regularly consulted to seek their views on ways to improve the services provided.
