We spoke with two dentists, one of whom was the provider, two dental nurses and five patients. Patients we spoke with were highly satisfied with the treatment they received. One patient said "it's [the practice] very good. There are few NHS dentists left. The dentists are competent and I'm always able to get an appointment." Another patient told us "they [dentists] are fantastic with children. I have no trouble getting an appointment and although it's sometimes difficult getting through they always ring you back."

Patients we spoke with told they were well informed about their treatment and involved in their treatment decisions. Staff understood their legal responsibilities and obligations for enabling patient consent.

Staff told us they enjoyed working at the practice. The provider had processes in place to support staff effectively in their role. Staff attended essential training such as basic life support and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. Staff had maintained their continuing professional development activities to meet the requirements of the General Dental Council.

The provider had a system which ensured patients' views on the service were listened and responded to. Patients told us they had confidence the dentist would manage their dental treatment concerns appropriately and would not hesitate to speak with the provider if they had a complaint.

Patients requiring further treatment or investigation were promptly and appropriately referred.

We spoke with eight people. They had been using the service for varying amounts of time. Each person we spoke with was positive about the treatment they received, cleanliness of the building and approach of staff.

People described the service as “first class” and “superb”. One of the people said that dentists and nursing staff were particularly good at putting patients at ease.

People told us they chose to use the practice for various reasons, such as because it was in the same building as their GP or because they lived close by. They said they had never had cause for concern with one person adding they “wouldn’t feel inhibited about making a complaint”.
