11th June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with one person who was waiting for treatment. They told us they were happy with the quality of care provided and that they would recommend the practice. They told us all their family attended this practice. They told is they felt involved in treatment decisions and that these were explained to them. We looked at the dental care records of four people and saw evidence that their oral health needs had been assessed and treatment was planned in relation to the needs identified. We saw evidence that written treatment plans were provided which were signed by the person receiving treatment.

We looked around the premises and saw dental equipment including emergency equipment was available and appropriately maintained. Staff were familiar with the procedures in infection prevention and control, especially the decontamination of dental equipment.

We looked at staff personnel files and saw the practice had appropriate procedures in place for the recruitment of new staff. We also saw from the staff files that staff were appropriately qualified and received training for their role.
