3rd July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with three people who were using the service at the time of our inspection. All three said they were very happy with the practice. One patient said they had been registered with the practice for ten years and that staff had been very good with all of her children, who had all required orthodontic treatments. They described the practice as providing ‘a great service’.

The second patient had been coming to the same dentist for over twenty years. They said they had required a lot of dental treatments and that the dentist had not done anything that was not absolutely necessary. They said that the hygienist was also very good.

The third patient said they did not always see the same dentist, which they felt was ‘a little concerning’, but they had been very happy with the dentist they had seen that day. We discussed this with the practice manager who advised us that the dentist this patient normally saw had been absent from work for some time through illness.

All three people said they were involved in decisions about their care, given clear information about the treatment options available to them and gave consent accordingly. All treatment prices were fully explained. They said that the dentist checked their medical history at each visit. They said they would recommend the practice to others.

We found that the provider was meeting all of the standards we inspected. They provided quality care and made continual improvements for patients and staff.
