9th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

This is a small dentist practice which had one treatment room and employs just one nurse and one dentist.

During our inspection process we spoke to three people by telephone who had recently used this dental practice. During our inspection we had conversations with a further six people who use this service. People told us that they were happy with the service that had been provided and the treatment they had received. One person told us, “I think they are brilliant and very good with our child as well.” Another person said, “I am very happy with everything. I have been using that dentist for a long time”.

People told us and we saw that staff were helpful and polite. We found that people had received the care and treatment they needed. People told us that they were informed about the treatment they needed and were given choices and options regarding this.

We saw that processes were in place to prevent infection. People we spoke with had no concerns about the cleanliness of the practice. A number of people made positive remarks about the recent refurbishment work that had been undertaken at the practice.

We saw that there were procedures in place for the safe recruitment of staff which meant that people using the practice were protected from being treated by unsuitable staff.

We saw that processes were in place to monitor the quality of the service provided and the satisfaction of the people using it.
