26th July 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Due to circumstances at this practice we did not get to meet the dentist or any people using the service. We did however; speak to five people by phone who had used this dentist within the last two weeks. These people were happy with the care and treatment they received and the service provided. One person who we spoke with told us “This dentist was recommended to me by a friend and they have lived up to my expectations, they are very good”. Another person said “They were very efficient. They treated me well and sorted my problem”. A third person said “I can not praise them enough”.

People told us that they were treated with dignity and were shown respect. One person told us “They were very friendly and polite”.

We found that people had received the care and treatment they needed. We saw that records detailed the treatments people received. People told us that they would be seen quickly in an emergency. One person told us “I did not have to wait long for an appointment.”

We saw that the provider had procedures in place to ensure that vulnerable adults and children were safeguarded from abuse.

We saw that processes were in place to prevent infection. People we spoke with had no concerns about the cleanliness of the practice. One person told us “Staff always wear gloves and aprons and the surgery room was clean”.

We saw that there were procedures in place for the safe recruitment of staff which meant that people using the practice were protected from being treated by unsuitable staff.

We saw that the provider had systems in place to monitor the service to ensure that people received a quality service. We randomly selected eight of 43 questionnaires that had recently been completed by people using this dentist practice. The only negative comments were that this practice only opens one and a half days a week. One person had written the following comment “We find the practice very satisfactory and would definitely recommend to other people”.
