11th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We carried out this inspection to check on the treatment of people. Following the inspection we conducted telephone interviews with seven people. On the day of the inspection we spoke to the dentist, two dental nurses and the practice manager.

The practice consisted of a reception/waiting area, one treatment room, a toilet which was not suitable for people who used a wheelchair and a decontamination area all on the ground floor.

People told us they were all asked for their consent before any treatment was given. One person said, “The care is really good and my consent is asked for at every visit”.

People told us that the treatment they were given was always the same as the treatment plan they signed. One person said, “I have been coming here since I was a baby and I wouldn’t go anywhere else”.

We found that the provider had a system in place to manage infection control and the environment was clean and tidy.

Records showed that all staff had gone through the appropriate checks before being employed. This meant that people could be reassured that staff were suitable to work with vulnerable people.

We found that the provider had a system in place for quality assurance and appropriate servicing of all equipment to ensure people’s safety.
