26th April 2017 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We carried out this announced inspection on 26 April 2017 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. We planned the inspection to check whether the registered provider was meeting the legal requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated regulations. The inspection was led by a CQC inspector who was supported by a specialist dental adviser.

To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment, we always ask the following five questions:

• Is it safe?

• Is it effective?

• Is it caring?

• Is it responsive to people’s needs?

• Is it well-led?

These questions form the framework for the areas we look at during the inspection.

Our findings were:

Are services safe?

We found that this practice was providing safe care in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Are services effective?

We found that this practice was providing effective care in accordance with the relevant regulations.

10th October 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We carried out this inspection to check on the treatment of people. Following the inspection we conducted telephone interviews with six people. On the day of the inspection we spoke with one dental nurse, the receptionist and the dentist who was also the registered manager.

The practice consisted of a reception/waiting area, two treatment rooms, a decontamination area and a toilet all these facilities were provided on the ground floor. The practice did not meet disability discrimination act requirements.

The people we spoke with confirmed their consent for treatment was obtained. One person said, "I do sign a treatment plan".

We found that people's treatment records contained information about the treatment they had received and their follow up appointments.

The provider had a policy in place to reduce the risk of cross infection. One person said, "The practice is absolutely clean".

The staff we spoke with confirmed that safety checks were carried out to ensure their suitability to work in the practice.

The provider had a complaints process in place to allow people to comment on the service they received.
