22nd May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with two patients and three members of staff. All the patients we spoke with told us they felt involved in their treatment and were comfortable being treated at the service. One patient said they were given treatment options and we observed this with staff explaining risks and benefits to patients. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and their treatment options were recorded.

Patients told us that they were happy with the treatment they received. One patient told us that they were asked to complete a medical history form and we observed that this was checked during consultations. The provider took steps to ensure patients' treatment was provided safely.

None of the patients we spoke with had any concerns about the service. The provider had appropriate arrangements in place to prevent abuse. However they had not trained staff regarding the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

All the patients we spoke with said they found the provider's premises and equipment clean and tidy and this was confirmed by our observations on the day we inspected. The provider had appropriate arrangements in place to prevent infection.

The provider undertook appropriate checks to ensure that they recruited staff who could meet patients' needs.

Although none of the patients we spoke with said they had undertaken a survey about the provider, we observed patients being asked if they were happy with the treatment they received. The provider undertook appropriate checks to ensure they were providing a service that met patients' needs.
