We found a service that was functioning well with a high level of patient satisfaction. People told us the service was efficient and that staff were pleasant and reassuring. One comment was, “Brilliant staff”.

We saw evidence that people’s treatment was assessed and delivered with care and compassion by staff that ensured they sought consent from people using the service.

Medication and equipment in the service was kept safe, stored appropriately and well maintained.

During this inspection we spoke with three people who received treatment, spoke with two staff that worked in the endoscopic unit, observed staff practice and examined records. People told us that they received a good service and were very satisfied with their treatment. We examined cleanliness and matters of infection control and found the unit to be compliant. People were treated by staff who were respectful, appropriately qualified and supported to do their job. There was an effective complaints procedure in place that was coordinated for the whole hospital if people wished to raise concerns.

It was inappropriate to talk to people using this service as all the people there on the day of our visit were receiving treatment.
