22nd October 2013 - During a routine inspection

We spoke with patients about the Brampton War Memorial Hospital (Brampton community hospital). They told us that they were satisfied with the service they received, one patient said, "It's very good." Another said, "They look after me very well." Another told us, "You couldn't find better staff anywhere, they are great!" Staff we spoke with told us that they liked working at the hospital one said, "I really enjoy it!"

We found that patients were looked after appropriately by staff who were well trained and caring. Staff regularly worked alongside other health care providers to ensure positive outcomes for patients in their care.

We also noted that all staff were aware of what to do if they had any concerns about the welfare and safeguarding of their patients and that they knew who was responsible for reporting safeguarding concerns to the local authority.

Equipment was maintained and cleaned to a high standard and the provider Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) was working towards ensuring that it was stored safely.

CPFT had also undertaken a large scale staffing review as part of its ongoing monitoring of the service Brampton community hospital provided.
