11th March 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with three people who were waiting for their appointment. They all told us that the service provided was excellent. One person was pleased that they had been able to get an emergency appointment on the same day that they had phoned the service. One person said,” We came here because our friends recommended it. Although we live 10 miles away, we think the trip is worth it for the excellent care.” Another person said, “The treatment is always explained to you and they always ask for our consent.”

We found that people’s consent was always obtained and recorded. Dental assessments were comprehensive and options for treatments were fully explained.

The practice followed national guidelines on the prevention of infection and regularly checked that it was maintaining compliance.

We found that, although staff were well trained, no risk assessments had been carried out to identify which posts needed the holder to have a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
