23rd July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

When we visited we met with the Field Support Manager, who had been providing management support, and the newly appointed Practice Manager. We also spoke with two of the six dentists working at the practice, two nurses and a receptionist. We spoke with five people who had received dental treatment during the week of our visit.

People we spoke with, who had used the service, were complimentary about their experiences of care and treatment. They commented, “I was put at ease” and, “I have seen different dentists here. We always receive very good care”. People said they received clear explanations of treatment options and written quotations. Those whose children also received care at this practice said, for example, “They give the children a good experience” and, “They are great with the children.”

People were complimentary about the standards of hygiene and we found the practice monitored the cleanliness and hygiene of the service. The service’s decontamination process was robust.

Staff told us they felt supported and were encouraged to develop their skills. People using the practice said that clinical and non-clinical staff were good. One person said “I have no complaints but I would raise concerns if I had any.” We saw that people were asked to complete questionnaires about the service, to help identify areas for improvement. There were a range of checks conducted to monitor and improve quality in the practice.
