28th April 2014 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

We carried out this inspection to determine if the provider had taken action to rectify the non-compliance that was found at our inspection in May 2013.

We found that the process used for the decontamination of instruments had improved, and now met national guidelines. Regular decontamination audits were being carried out.

We saw that staff were being supported to develop and improve their skills through attendance at training courses and monthly meetings to discuss good practice.

3rd May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with three people who use the service, all of whom had been coming to the practice for several years. They told us they were very happy with the service and said the dentist provided clear information about the treatment planned. We also reviewed a sample of responses to a patient questionnaire. They all gave positive feedback about the service.

People felt staff were welcoming and friendly and treated them with respect. One person said, “The staff are always courteous and helpful.” Another person said, “I have a phobia about dental treatment but the dentist always makes me feel comfortable and is brilliant.”

There were arrangements in place for supporting staff but we found some shortfalls in these arrangements.

There were suitable safeguarding and emergency arrangements in place in order to ensure patient safety.

During our inspection we found that there were arrangements in place for the decontamination of dental instruments. However, there was a risk that some sterile dental instruments were not being stored appropriately.
