3rd January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with six patients to gain their direct views. In addition we spoke with the principal dentist and two members of staff.

The patients we spoke with were complimentary about the service they received. Some of the comments were; “The dentist is excellent, the staff are really good. They are flexible and understanding”, and “It’s the best ever, everyone is really nice. I used to have uncontrollable shakes but not anymore. I ask a lot of questions and get the answers that reassure me”.

Patients told us that treatment options were discussed with them and this included the price of treatments. All patients spoken with confirmed that medical histories were taken. Patients spoken with told us they felt safe and trusted the advice and expertise of the dentist.

Staff were seen to treat patients with respect and courtesy and helped ensure patients’ dignity and privacy. Emergency medical equipment was in place and staff undertook annual training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). One patient said, “The staff are respectful and treat me with dignity.”

We looked at the cleanliness of the practice and the safety processes in place to protect the health of their patients. Patients told us that the surgery always looked clean and tidy.

There was a system in place to gather patients views. Some recent comments included:

The dentist is great. He is excellent with children too. I am very happy with the advice and the treatment".
