5th March 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with three people who used this dental service. People told us “All staff are very pleasant and nice.” Another said “the dentist is very gentle, softly spoken and very patient with me”, “the dental practice is really excellent and I felt really happy to be a patient here “and another said “the receptionist is very kind and hardworking – highly professional manner.”

People told us everything was explained and the dentist discussed treatment options to enable patients to make an informed decision. Everyone said they were involved in their treatment plan and had been asked for their consent.

We found people's treatment needs were assessed and treatment was provided by experienced and qualified staff. There were systems in place in the event of a medical emergency. Medicines were managed appropriately to keep people safe.

We found that people who used this service and staff were protected from identifiable risks of acquiring an infection. This was because there were systems in place to keep the practice clean and hygienic including effective de-contamination of instruments in accordance with guidelines.

We found that staff were qualified and had the relevant skills and experience to carry out their jobs. They were registered with relevant professional bodies which meant they were able to carry out their respective roles.

We found the quality of the service provided was audited and monitored by the staff, to ensure it was safe, effective and well-managed.
