23rd July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit, we spoke with the principal dentist, the clinical nurse lead, the lead receptionist and three people who used the service. Staff told us the practice employed 30 staff including eight dentists and three hygienists. Two of the dentists were the practice owners. At the time of our visit the practice also had two vocational trainee dentists.

All of the people we spoke with told us the dentists always discussed their treatment options and any associated costs with them. This was confirmed by the patient records examined. People told us they always signed consent forms prior to receiving any treatment.

People said they were very happy with the services provided and had never had to complain about anything. Comments from people we spoke with included:-

“It’s all very good. It was recommended to me by relatives who all come here too”;

“I’ve been much happier since I’ve been coming here; the staff are all lovely”;

“I think it’s absolutely brilliant. I can’t speak highly enough of them; they are competent, friendly and knowledgeable”.

The practice was housed in a modern building and had seven treatment rooms on the ground floor. People told us the practice was modern, easy to access if you had mobility problems, clean and well-maintained. This was confirmed by our observations during our visit.

Staff we spoke with told us they were confident the service provided to patients was good. They said they received training appropriate to their role and felt well-supported by their managers.
