3rd July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with eight patients who were attending for appointments. The patients we spoke with told us they were always treated with respect and dignity. One patient told us: “I feel I am always treated with respect and dignity. Everyone here is helpful, puts you at ease and gets the work done efficiently".

All patients we spoke with confirmed that medical histories were taken. We observed that records were kept up to date and contained patients’ medical information, treatment plans and personal preferences.

Patients told us that treatment options were discussed with them and this included the price of treatments.

We observed that the premises were clean and there were pleasant reception and waiting areas. We saw up to date and relevant information was available.

Policies and procedures were accessible to staff and emergency equipment was in place. Staff were seen to be careful to observe all hygiene procedures, to reduce the risk of cross infection.

We spoke with four members of staff and two dentists, all of whom were suitably qualified for their roles within the practice. We observed staff members interacting politely and respectfully with patients.

Patients we spoke with made the following comments: “He is a good dentist, if you feel a bit nervous, the staff are reassuring here”. One patient told us: “I have no complaints, it's all good here. Information was “always explained clearly and staff were helpful”.
