7th January 2014 - During a routine inspection

During our visit to the centre we talked with seven donors and were waiting to donate or who had donated. People told us they were very happy with the quality of the service provided and because of this they were happy to return to make donations whenever they could. We were told: "The staff are happy and everybody's really helpful and you know it's quick." and "staff are very professional, friendly and clean."

We found that information was provided to make sure people gave informed consent before donating blood. Donors spoke highly of the caring nature of staff and we saw systems were in place for dealing with emergencies. Staff were well trained and told us they were well supported. We found that the quality of the service was checked and changes were made to facilitate improvements as required.
