24th October 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We were not able to speak to people using the service on the day of the inspection. Instead we gathered evidence of people’s experiences of the service by reviewing the provider’s satisfaction survey results and NHS choices comments from 2013. Overall respondents expressed good satisfaction levels with the service they had received. Where people expressed dissatisfaction with the service on the NHS choices website, we saw the provider had responded to their comments. The principal dentist said that if any issues were identified from people’s feedback they would discuss as a practice and implement changes as necessary. This demonstrated that the quality of the provider’s service was monitored and that the views of people were sought to identify areas for improvement.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. People’s dental needs were assessed before any treatment was planned.

The practice appeared clean and well maintained on the day of the inspection. There were systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

Staff received appropriate professional development. We were told that staff received informal appraisals with the principal dentist every three months. The staff member’s performance and any issues were discussed.
