29th May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with five people who used this service. Everyone was pleased with the care and treatment they had received from the dentist. One person said "he [the dentist] is really sort of calm and calms you even if the treatment is not nice". Another person told us that the dentist made them "feel safe".

We found that people's treatment needs were assessed carefully, and treatment was provided effectively by experienced and qualified staff. There were systems in place to provide care in the event of a medical emergency. People told us the staff were helpful, everything was explained, and the dentist discussed treatment options. Everyone said they were involved in their treatment plan and asked for their consent.

We found that people who used this service and staff were protected from identifiable risks of acquiring an infection because the operation of systems provided to prevent the spread of infections was designed in accordance with the guidance from the Department of Health primary care dental practice.

We found that records were stored securely. A complaints procedure was available for people to see without having to request it from staff.
