People who attended this centre were usually referred to by their own dentist for further treatment. The most common age group was between six years and 18 years.

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the orthodontist acted in accordance with individual’s wishes. People told us that they had to wait sometime before they were called for treatment. This gave them time to reconsider their options.

People’s needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual treatment plan. Treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. We spoke with four people and two of them were patients who used the service. They told us they understood their treatment plan and were happy with the arrangements.

People were cared for in a clean, hygienic environment. All areas of the practice were tidy and free from unpleasant odours. The staff said that each treatment area was cleaned and disinfected by the dental nurses between patients.

We checked three staff records. The evidence confirmed that robust recruitment procedures had been applied and all essential checks had been carried out prior to staff employment.

The provider had systems in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of patients and others. People said they did not have any need to make a complaint and they were satisfied with the service.
