29th January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke to people who used the service, who told us they were generally satisfied with the service, and that their treatments and any fees were explained thoroughly to them before treatment commenced. People were involved in the planning of their treatment and were given information to help them make an informed choice. We reviewed computerised patient records which showed that a choice of treatments had been discussed and explained. Comments from people using the service included "fine- no problems" and "I've been coming here all my life".

People had an up to date assessment of their needs before treatment was carried out, and there were appropriate emergency procedures within the practice. Treatment rooms were kept clean and tidy, and instruments were sterilized before use in accordance with current guidance. There were appropriate policies and procedures in place for the prevention and control of infection.

Although staff said they generally felt well supported within the workplace, they also said they would welcome the opportunity for more appraisals and supervisions, to allow them to raise issues and discuss their career development. The provider carried out appropriate quality monitoring of the service provided.
