5th March 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We visited this dental practice at 10.00 am on Tuesday 5 March 2013. We arranged this visit in advance. This helped to ensure that time was made available for us to speak with staff. On the day of our visit we spoke with six people who used the service. Three dentists, a dental nurse and an administrator, who was also a qualified dental nurse.

Dale House dental practice provides NHS treatment to children and adults who are exempt from paying fees. Treatment was also provided to private fee paying and Denplan patients. Information regarding the costs of any NHS or private treatments was not on display in the waiting area. Everyone we spoke with said that the dentist or receptionist made them aware of any costs involved in treatment.

We looked around the dental practice and saw that it was clean. We saw records which demonstrated that the dental practice was regularly cleaned.

We looked at staff training and appraisal records. We saw that staff were supported to undertake their role.

We looked at the results of the last patient satisfaction survey. Patients were satisfied with the service provided at this dental practice. One person we spoke with said, "It’s brilliant here, my family visit as well. It is always clean and everything is sterilised". Another person said, "I am happy here; I have been coming here for 10 years".
