21st January 2014 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

We did not speak with people who use the service as part of this inspection. During our inspection on 25 January 2013 we found some records were not kept securely. We saw paper records were stored in the reception area in non-lockable cabinetry. We were advised that this had been identified as a possible issue and the surgery had received quotes for the fitting of locks to the cabinets.

During our most recent inspection we found there were locks on all the cabinets holding patient records and paper records were now held securely.

25th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Patient's who use the service told us that they were happy with the service they received and would recommend the service to families and friends. They advised us that the practice was always clean and tidy and the staff were always courteous and professional. They felt that they were informed and involved in their treatment and that their rights and privacy were always respected.

The practice displayed patient information regarding treatment options, cost of treatment and how to complain in the reception and waiting area. The practice used a suggestion book in the waiting area surveys as tools to gain and act upon patient views.

The practice ensured that the care provided to patients was appropriate to their needs and that cleanliness and infection control was maintained at a high standard.

Staff were supported and trained appropriately. We found that whilst electronic patient notes were stored securely, paper notes were not. The provider recognized this to be an issue and stated that efforts would be made to immediately rectify this.
