8th May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

This was the first inspection of the practice since its registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in June 2011. Two dentists, a hygienist, a practice manager, a team of dental nurses and a receptionist worked at the practice. We (the CQC) spoke with three patients, two dentists, the practice manager, the hygienist, three dental nurses and the receptionist. We also observed one patient during their treatment. The practice had two surgeries and a waiting room on the ground floor and a surgery and waiting room on the second floor.

Patients were treated with dignity. We saw staff interact with patients in a respectful and polite manner. We heard the staff had a friendly and helpful telephone manner. One patient said “I like them all (the staff). They’re very good.” A member of staff said “I think the whole place is a very caring place.” They added “I’m very happy to come here (to work).”

One patient, during their treatment, told the dentist that she had “done a brilliant job” on a member of their family. A member of staff said “Patient care is a priority for all of us.” Another member of staff described the practice as a “very tidy, happy ship”.

All the patients we spoke with were positive about the conduct of the staff at the practice. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Patient, staff and management records were fit for purpose and kept safe.
