17th January 2014 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

We followed up on concerns we identified during a scheduled inspection on 11 September 2013. We spoke to the registered managers and a dental nurse.

We found appropriate changes had been made to decontamination processes since September 2013. This meant the risk of healthcare associated infection had been reduced.

11th September 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During the inspection we spoke with four people patients who use the service, two dentists, a dental nurse, a receptionist, managers and the practice owner.

Patients were satisfied with the treatment they received and said they were fully involved in decisions regarding their treatment. One patient said "The treatment is top drawer." Patients understood costs before agreeing to treatment. Dentists gave patients advice on how to provide self-care.

We saw dental records showed patients’ contained appropriate medical and treatment histories were taken. Dentists documented patients’ patient's oral health and proposed treatments.

The practice was clean and had systems to ensure infection risks were identified and managed. The treatment rooms were clean. However, decontamination of dental instruments did not follow national standards or the provider's own protocols.

Staff received appropriate professional development and support from the management.
