8th August 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke to four patients who used the service. We were told: “I’m an old friend of [the dentist]. I’ve been coming here for years”. “The fees are always up front and on display”. And: “I was informed by [the dentist] that I did not need to be on one particular plan which saved me a lot of money”.

We found that the practice provided a range of information to people who used the service and people were fully involved in discussions and consented to their care and treatment.

We observed that people’s treatment plans were comprehensive and medical history for people who used the service had been regularly updated.

We found that people who used the service were protected from infection because the practice had been maintained to appropriate standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Records we viewed and staff we spoke with confirmed that the practice had a robust recruitment system for all staff. All of whom had worked at the practice for a number of years.

The practice had processes in place to monitor the quality of care and to obtain and act on the views of people who used the service.
