12th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit we spoke with four patients, one dental nurse, one dentist, a receptionist and the practice manager. Patients we spoke with told us they were satisfied with the information they received. One person said; "I am here this morning knowing exactly what is going to happen to me as time was taken at my last appointment to explain what needed to be done”.

We observed that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people’s safety and welfare. A patient told us; “As I am a new patient I filled in a medical questionnaire at my consultation appointment”.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

There were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies and effective infection control systems were maintained to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

There was enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. A member of staff told us; “I am happy to help the dentistthroughout all procedures. The dentist is fantastic”.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive. Patient feedback indicated consistent and high satisfaction. One comment made by a patient included; "Receptionist is a legend. So is all the staff”.
