19th December 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

On the day of this inspection we visited the Contraception and Sexual Health (CaSH) service. We spoke with the service manager, a specialist nurse, a health care assistant, an administration/reception staff and one person who used the service.

People who used the service told us the staff explained everything to them and respected their wishes.

People who used the service told us they were given information and support regarding their care or treatment.

Appropriate recruitment checks were in place prior to the employment of staff. This meant the provider had taken steps to ensure the staff they employed were of good character and suitable people to work with vulnerable groups.

The provider had a system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.

9th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

As part of this inspection we visited the Vasectomy service and the Contraception and Sexual health (CaSH) service. Other community nursing services were based at this location, however, as these services were registered with the Commission as located at Beckside Court, they will be included in that location’s inspection report.

On the day of our inspection we were unable to speak with people using the services however, we used a number of different methods to help us understand their experiences and this included reviewing patient opinion results, and the monitoring of concerns/complaints/compliments.

Comments on the Patient Opinion website about the Vasectomy service included;

“First class vasectomy service.” They said they found the staff to be, “Caring, professional and personal.”

A person who had visited the CaSH service said they had received really good advice and would have no hesitation in revisiting the service should they have any more problems. The person said the staff were really nice, friendly, pleasant and good mannered.

The staff we spoke with showed a good awareness of the needs of the people who used the service.
