14th November 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection, we spoke with ten people using the service. They were all complimentary about the service they had received. Eight people commented that they had seen the dentist more than once since the new dentist had taken over the practice, and they were very pleased with the treatment given on each occasion.

One person commented, "The dentist is very, very good and I am very pleased with the treatment." Another person said, "The service is really good. I phoned the practice this morning to arrange an emergency visit and here I am. I have seen the dentist a few times before and I have been happy with all the treatment I have received."

People commented that the staff were always polite and welcoming. One person said, “The staff are very friendly and helpful and always polite.”

People we spoke with said that they had been given informed choices, and the cost of treatment had also been explained to them.

We found that staff had knowledge of the safeguarding procedures for the protection of vulnerable adults and children.

We noted that the service had an effective quality monitoring system in place, which had included monitoring the infection control practices. The decontamination of surgical instruments was carried out in accordance with the guidelines for dental practices and the hygiene code of practice, both issued by the Department of Health.
