26th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

At the time of our inspection the staff team at the practice consisted of one dentist, two dental nurses, one hygienist and the practice manager who also acted as the receptionist. We observed that the facilities were clean and tidy and that the environment was well maintained.

We looked at a sample of patient records which demonstrated that at each visit general health details and medications were updated and soft tissue and palette examinations were noted.

We spoke with four patients during the inspection who all spoke positively about their experiences each time they had visited the practice. Comments included; “A few years ago my wife needed to get in for an emergency appointment on Good Friday. My wife was in agony they agreed to come in and open the surgery even though they should have been closed” and “The staff are great. They know all their patients names and it’s a really friendly atmosphere” and “The cleanliness is one of the things that stands out most here I would say”.

The practice had effective systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided. Audits were undertaken on a regular basis which included x-rays, infection control, patient records and medical histories.

We found the practice had several systems in place in order to gain feedback on the service. This included the use of an annual survey and a compliments and complaints mailbox in the reception area.
