When we visited Dr Letocq on 9 July 2013 we found that improvements were needed in seeking and acting upon patients views and in clinical quality assurance.

During this visit we found that improvements had been made. We saw that patients had completed satisfaction surveys and the provider was aware of patients views. We found that clinical audits and an audit of control of infection had been carried out and results reviewed. We spoke with Dr Letocq about the improvements made and any actions he had identified.

We did not speak with patients because this was a follow up visit.

We met with the dentist and dental nurse during our visit to Dr David Letoq. We spoke with four of the six patients who attended for treatment during our visit.

Patients told us they were very happy with the treatment and service they received from the practice. A patient said "They always fit me in very quickly when I need urgent treatment". Another patient told us "The explanation [of treatment] is very open and scientific".

Patients we spoke with told us the practice was always clean and tidy. The practice operated processes, and followed procedures, that minimised the risk and spread of infection because current guidelines were followed.

The dental nurse old us they were supported to carry out their role. We saw that they had attended courses to keep themselves up to date with dental practice. We observed that the dental nurse and the dentist worked as a team throughout the visit.

The practice did not regularly assess and monitor the quality of the service. Patients were not regularly asked for feedback through satisfaction surveys and audits were not regularly conducted. For example, control of infection audits to meet the department of health guidance were not carried out.
