11th October 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We visited the surgery, spoke with the principal dentist and several other staff, looked at documentation and records, and observed practices within the surgery.

The patients we spoke with were extremely happy with the service they received. One person told us “I wouldn’t change anything about the dentist, its perfect”. Another person told us “I am very fortunate to have a dentist that is so informal and welcoming”.

We saw during our visit that patients were regularly asked for consent, and were fully involved in planning their treatment.

We observed processes and spoke with staff that showed good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, and infection control. Staff were trained and supported to a high standard, and patients were extremely happy with the way that they were dealt with by staff. One person told us “Staff are extremely pleasant and helpful”.

When looking at incidents and complaints there was a potential need to improve the process of collating, and analysing the information, but there was evidence that the actions taken in these circumstances was always appropriate.
