25th July 2012 - During an inspection in response to concerns

We carried out this inspection in response to concerns raised about community health services in Newham. The concerns were raised following an incident in which a person who had been discharged from the Cazaubon Unit may not have received appropriate follow-up care at home.

We spoke to four people using the service and the relatives of one person who was not well enough to speak to us themselves.

People were very positive about the care they received. One person said about the Cazaubon unit: “They have all helped me get back on my feet. Without them I don’t think I would be walking with a frame.”

We saw people undertaking therapeutic activities on the Cazaubon Unit and people commented positively about this. One person said: “The nurses get me ready in time for the gym and for the activities. I like the activities.”
