7th January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with five members of staff, looked at the care records for eleven patients and spoke with four patients.

We saw that patient’s views were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered. For example one patient told us “They always ask about my medical history and give me a treatment plan.” Another patient said “I am very happy to be a patient here and recommend the practice to anyone.”

Patient's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care needs.

We saw that the premises were visibly clean and tidy. Staff we spoke with were able to demonstrate their knowledge of correct decontamination and sterilisation processes . One patient we spoke with said “The practice is always clean and tidy.”

We saw documentation which confirmed that all relevant staff employed by the service held current registrations with the General Dental Council (GDC). We also saw documents which confirmed that the service undertook checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for all staff. This meant that the service had taken reasonable steps to identify the that staff were suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults.
