27th September 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

When we met the dentist for the first time they told us about their’ focus on prevention’ and said they “treated people how they would like to be treated”.

We spoke with five people as they were attending the practice. One person described their experience as “very good”. They said they telephoned the previous day for an emergency appointment and were happy with the response they had. They told us they liked the “personal touch” and described “good relationships with the practice staff”.

Another person described the practice as being of a “high standard”. They told us they had received dental treatment elsewhere and said they felt this practice was” if not the best, then one of them”. They described the dentist as “great” and staff as “helpful”. They told us how the dentist had told them to contact the practice if they had any concerns at the weekend. People were aware of the complaints procedure but had no complaints.

Staff told us they were happy in their work and felt supported. They told us about the training they completed including that relating to the protection of children and vulnerable adults.

We saw that the provider maintained good records relating to people's care and treatments and for the running of the practice and checked the quality of service from time to time.

There were arrangements in place to protect people against the risk of infection and ensure their treatment was safe. Unforeseen medical emergencies could be responded to.
