One person who we spoke with said, "The dentist here is wonderful. She asks me every time I visit for treatment if I agree to consent to my treatment". We saw records which showed us that people provided a written and valid consent to their treatment before any treatment occurred.

We reviewed five people's care and treatment plans and found that they contained up-to-date health and care information. This ensured that people would only be offered treatment based upon their latest health condition.

Records we reviewed demonstrated to us that Eye Dental Care followed Department of Health (DH) guidance for infection management and control. We observed staff during patient treatment consultations and saw that they were wearing appropriate protective clothing to reduce people's risk of exposure to any potential infection.

Our review of staff recruitment files evidenced to us that the dental practice had only employed one new member of staff recently. The practice had introduced a new form which ensured appropriate identity, Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and previous employment checks were completed before new staff commenced their employment with the service.

The records held by the dental practice were held securely and staff were able to locate them promptly when required. We saw records of people's health conditions based upon the information they had provided to the dental practice. People could be sure that their dental care records were up-to-date.
