20th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We met five people attending appointments who all spoke positively about the service. One person told us, “Very happy…good as the private dentist we used to go to, see the same dentist each time.” Another person told us, “Very good dentist.”

With their permission, we accompanied two people during their consultation and treatment. Following their treatment one person told us, “I can’t fault the dentist or the nurse.”

People told us they felt respected by staff and were fully involved in the decisions about their dental care and treatment.

We were told that staff individually discussed with people how much their treatment would cost. We observed one person being told the cost of their NHS treatment. Staff then checked with the person to ensure it was acceptable.

When we asked people if they would recommend the service to others they said, “Yes.” One person told us, “Once you find a good dentist you stay, even if it means travelling.” Another person told us, “Oh yes, I bring my children, husband, all come here.” A third person told us, “Yes I have done.”

People commented on the warm welcome they received from staff. One person told us that some of the staff, “Have been here years.” They felt it was a positive sign, which indicated that staff liked working there.
