5th December 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with four patients who had been seen by the dentist. Comments included: “The dentist always explains the options to me and I make a decision about whether I want the treatment.” “They always tell me what they think I need and let me decide.” The patients we spoke with were all positive about their care and treatment at the practice. Comments included: “It is easy to get an appointment.” “I have no complaints.” “I have quite a good relationship with my dentist.” “I have been a patient here for X years and am very happy.” “They are very good I am happy with everything.”

We saw stocks of personal protective equipment (PPE) were available to staff. We spoke with two dental nurses who told us: “There are always gloves and aprons available.” “We have access to gloves and aprons.”

We spoke with two dental nurses who told us: “Anything new is discussed at lunchtime.” “Communication is good; there is always someone to discuss any concerns with.”

We looked at the maintenance file and saw regular checks on equipment such as; fire extinguishers, oxygen cylinders, autoclaves and x-ray machines were undertaken.

We saw there were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service patients received. We saw patient surveys in the form of a questionnaire had been regularly carried out.
