18th October 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We found that this private dental practice provided people who used the service with a full assessment of their treatment needs, using high tech equipment, and a treatment plan which was clearly written in plain English. A range of visual aids helped the dentist to explain the options. General information about fees was displayed in the waiting area and fees relevant to each individual were outlined to them in writing.

The premises were kept clean and a dental nurse was able to explain all aspects of infection control and decontamination of instruments to us. We saw evidence that staff kept up-to-date with best practice guidance and carried out regular self-audits to monitor the quality of their work.

We spoke to five people who used the service by telephone and they all spoke highly of it. One person told us that they had been nervous about having dental work carried out, but they had received an 'excellent service' at this practice and 'now I don't worry at all'. Staff members were pleased to be working at this practice, because, as one of them told us, they saw 'the patients are really happy'.
