30th May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit we spoke with two patients. Patients said they were able to make informed choices about their treatment and their privacy and dignity was always respected. One patient said, “They explained what I needed including the risks, benefits and different options. They told me about the costs and how many future appointments I would need”.

We found that treatment was planned and delivered in ways that ensured people’s safety and welfare. Medical histories and individual treatment plans were in place. Staff knew how to deal with foreseeable emergencies and suitable emergency equipment was in place.

All areas of the practice were clean and hygienic. We found effective systems to prevent, reduce and control the risk of infection. A comprehensive set of infection control policies and procedures were in place and we found these were followed in practice.

The practice employed staff who were appropriately qualified to provide a safe and effective service. We found that that suitable recruitment processes were used. Patients were very complimentary about the staff team. One patient wrote in the Comments Book, “The best dentist I have ever been to. So gentle and made me feel more relaxed at a dentist than I have ever been. Thank you.”

We found that suitable systems were in place to monitor the quality of the service being provided.
