25th September 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

At our inspection we spoke with three people receiving treatment on the day. We spoke with the dentist, a practice nurse and the receptionist.

We found Gracefield Dental Practice had robust infection control procedures in place; these ensured people receiving care and treatment were protected from the risk of infection.

All areas of the surgery including those for treatment and decontamination were newly refurbished, clean hygienic and well maintained. The premises were adapted during the refurbishment programme to enable access to people using wheelchairs.

Protective clothing and equipment was in use, staff used them to reduce the risk of contamination and to protect themselves and people using the service.

People using the service told us they were satisfied with the care and treatment they had received, and how this was provided.

A person new to the practice described their fears of dental treatment, they said "I always get anxious when I have to go to a dentist; this dentist has eased my anxiety and explained every step of the treatment programme".
