We visited Harewood Dental Surgery to look at the care and treatment provided to patients who used the service. We spoke with six patients and observed two treatment sessions during this inspection. We also spoke with the dentist and two other members of staff.

The patients we spoke with were very satisfied with the treatment they had received at this practice. They told us they were asked to consent to their care and treatment in advance, and told us they had been given treatment options by the dentist. Those who had more significant treatments had a treatment plan before any work had been carried out. Comments on this subject from patients included "Full information given" and "The dentist always tells you what she is going to do in advance." Those people who had been referred to other providers by the dentist were satisfied with how that process had worked.

Patients commented favourably on the premises, and on the suitability of staff. All the feedback was positive and included "Yes, the premises are excellent" and "There are always lots of staff around, and they behave in a professional way."

We asked about whether the practice had sufficient staff and there were no concerns raised by patients on this. They told us they could get emergency appointments when they needed them. One person told us "Yes, I did have to do this, and I was very happy about how quickly I was seen." None of the patients we spoke with had any complaints about this dental practice.

Patients said that they were happy with the service provided. They thought that they had been given enough information about their treatment options and about the fees they would have to pay. They said that they had received the treatment they needed and to which they had consented. They were satisfied that the surgery and the equipment used had been clean and they were confident that staff knew about the importance of good hygiene.
