4th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People received a detailed dental examination and were given information and advice about treatment that they required. This helped people to make decisions about their treatment options. A person said “I feel informed. If I don’t know something I can ask.” We saw that people’s privacy and confidentiality was maintained.

Two people we spoke with told us they were happy with the care and treatment they had received. One person said “I was advised about the timescale of my treatment and costs, as well as other treatment options. They told me early in my treatment plan how to look after my diet and oral health. We saw that people who needed an urgent dental appointment were able to be seen promptly. This was helpful to people.

The dental practice was clean and tidy and there were appropriate decontamination systems, policies and procedures in place. This helped to protect people’s health and wellbeing.

People we spoke with said they felt there was enough staff to meet their needs. We saw that staff kept their skills up to date and were seen to treat people in a professional manor. This helped people to feel supported.

There was a complaints policy and procedure in place which staff were aware of. People we spoke with said they had no complaints to make. The provider contacted people the day after certain dental procedures had been undertaken to make sure they remained happy with all aspects of the service they had received.
